Job Description
Responsible for executing field assignments within the Company’s four service lines: Remediation, Waste Transportation, Industrial Maintenance, and Emergency Response. The Equipment Operator & Foreman is responsible for managing field personnel and equipment to efficiently conduct planned projects and emergencies on a daily basis. Responsible for the safe operation of mini- excavators (< 12,000 lbs.) or tracked or rubber tire skid loaders.
Requirements:Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversight, evaluation and delegation of field tasks to drivers, equipment operators, and field technicians.
- Review work plans and equipment requirements to ensure efficient start and completion of projects.
- Provide supervision of emergency spill calls in addition to assisting the response coordinator in efficiently responding to the emergency.
- Quality control and quality assurance responsibilities to ensure projects are conducted in an efficient safe manner and within regulatory guidelines.
- Maximize the utilization of Lewis owned resources and equipment when applicable.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all assigned equipment.
- Knowledge of hand signals, soil management concepts, excavation safety, benching and sloping techniques.
- Must be able to operator multi-manufactured equipment and a variety of attachments suck as Bobcat, Case, Cat , John Deere with different control patterns.
- Efficient operation of skid loaders and mini excavators.
- Properly and thoroughly complete daily notes and company required paperwork, which includes obtaining a customer signature on daily time and material sheets.
- Continued development of personal accreditations including field sampling procedures, hazardous materials handling, CDL endorsements and tank handling certifications for appropriate states and activity as well as other specialties as identified by management.
- Safeguard confidential, sensitive or privileged information.
- Enforcement of the standards of conduct as defined in the company handbook.
- Implementation of disciplinary action policies as defined in the company handbook.
- Communicate between departments for job needs and requirements for shift’s activities. For “typical” workday schedule, information needs to be communicated by noon-time of the current workday.
- Assist in performing secondary responsibilities as requested by management.
- Perform pre-job/bid site walks with project managers, estimators, or sales representatives as necessary to ensure projects are bid and managed efficiently.
- Participate in monthly field employee meetings to maintain good communication.
- Commitment to general teamwork in support of all aspects of daily activities to ensure the profitability and sustained growth of the corporation.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 Years’ experience in a comparable position in an Environmental Contracting Company
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Criminal Background.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must have flexibility in their personal schedule including weekend on call status.
- Strong focus on Safety, Quality, Honesty, Integrity, and Teamwork.
- 40 Hours OSHA and related Safety Training is a plus, but will be provided if necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
- Ability to work in severe weather conditions both hot and cold
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Work and travel in inclement weather
- Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor 50-70% of the time
- Able to tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels
