MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marina Equipment Operator I is responsible for:

  • Operating boat lifts, cranes, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Handling the launching, retrieval, and transportation of boats to and from the water and storage areas.
  • Performing routine maintenance checks on lifting equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment.
  • Conducting thorough pre- and post-lift inspections of boats, reporting any damage or maintenance needs.
  • Providing professional and courteous customer service to marina members, offering assistance and information as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all boat movements and lift operations.
  • Collaborating closely with other marina staff to coordinate boat handling activities and ensure efficient operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum (1) year of proven experience/qualifications in the safe operation of travel lifts, crates, telehandlers, hydraulic trailers, and forklifts
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, preferably boat lifts.
  • Basic understanding of boat mechanics and maintenance.
  • Relevant certifications in heavy machinery operation are a plus.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • Attention to detail to ensure safe handling of boats and equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues during lift operations.

  • Ensure task risk assessments are conducted to carry out all work safely.
  • Commitment to a focus on safety and a culture of hazard identification and control.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures to protect themselves, work colleagues and the environment.
  • Report all incidents, hazards and near misses, including environmental cases.
  • Follow all quality control and assurance systems in place.
  • Take part in annual performance appraisals.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
  • Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.
