Job Description
Position Summary The Human Resources Manager is responsible for talent management, onboarding, benefits, compliance, employee relations, learning and development, employee engagement, compensation, and performance management. This individual will implement “best practices” human resources systems, processes, policies and practices to support culture and organizational development efforts. This position is located in Santa Monica, CA, U.S. and reports to Head of Human Resources in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Human resource partner to hiring managers for recruitment and staffing needs, including documentation, sourcing candidates, candidate interviewing/feedback, preparing offer letters/contracts, and on-boarding new employees.
Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Maintains databases in all human resources information systems.
Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
Handles employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and exit interviews.
Develops, recommends, and implements company human-resource related policies and procedures.
Manages aspects of the annual performance review process including timelines, compensation matters, support to managers, ensuring completion of performance reviews.
Manages aspects of the benefits program, including annual review of program offerings, annual enrollment, benefits administration, communication and managing the leave of absence process.
Ensures strong HR connectivity between the U.S. and Netherlands with alignment of practices and programs.
Serves as interface to finance for all human resource interdependencies, including payroll.
Plans and executes employee events to enhance employee engagement and culture initiatives.
Seeks feedback from employees regarding the effectiveness of all human resources tools, practices, processes, and continuously improves the service to the organization.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Skills
General knowledge of /experience in the biotechnology field highly desired.
Employee champion and leading with a positive attitude.
Good facilitation skills: group training and organization effectiveness programs.
Able to work independently, in cross functional teams, and plan/execute projects.
Extremely flexible and have the ability to manage multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.
Generate reports/information from HR systems and use the information to guide decisions.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Willing to work flexible hours to meet U.S. and Netherlands company needs.
Hands-on mentality with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
Superior verbal/written, presentation and technology skills.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
A minimum of ten years of human resource management experience preferred.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
