Job Summary

The Master Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, preparation, and maintenance of the company’s master project schedule and production sub-schedules to guide the activities and resources to achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains staff in assigned department.
  • Organizes and oversees the assigned tasks of department staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Engages in all leadership trainings, meetings, and initiatives.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Overall schedule responsibility from management through driving execution for the company.
  • Maintains the Master Project Schedule as well as each departments sub-schedule in accordance with production capacity and customer requirements; updates and issues Master Project Schedule with current status of all department deliverables and completion dates.
  • Determines which facility product lines are manufactured at.
  • Establishes, measures, monitors, and adjust capacity levels to execute all manufacturing and engineering design schedules.
  • Determine job readiness in all areas not limited to engineering, material status, and production capacity prior to starting a project in production.
  • Performs capacity planning activities and performance analysis against capacity and plan to determine effectiveness of overall schedule
  • Monitors progress against scheduled activities and identifies performance variances to facilitate focus on critical areas; develops and implements work-around or recovery plans to meet schedule requirements.
  • Develop key milestones that must be completed before a project will move forward in the process.
  • Engages in capacity management during sales and operations planning, master scheduling, materials requirements planning, and production activity control.
  • Partners with internal teams to shift projects based on production capacity and engineering design capacity; identify critical path items and track closely in concurrence with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and Production Managers.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to assess and incorporate materials, inventory, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules.
  • Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other databases tools to develop and maintain master schedules and production sub-schedules.
  • Establishes KPIs and reports regarding performance to the production plan.
  • Suggests and implements improvement to Crown’s scheduling and planning processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid Microsoft Excel Skills and Microsoft Project Skills.
  • Ability to look at an overall schedule and identify risks with a critical thinking approach and discuss with supporting departments to develop a resolution.
  • Ability to maximize relationships internally & communicate well with others to host meetings on a weekly basis to get information needed to maintain overall schedule.
  • Ability to drive change while promoting improvement to the current Master Schedule with a focus on real time information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret and follow written directions, blueprints, and engineering diagrams.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Must be comfortable demonstrating courage to lead with influence in a 360-degree capacity (all levels including peers, subordinates, managers, executives)
  • Experience leading people and obtaining results through others, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage multi projects and have a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field; relevant experience may be substituted in place for education.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment related to operations management, project management, or engineering.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Periods of standing, walking, and sitting at a desk using a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 35 pounds at times.
  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
  • Must wear PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection, while working on the production floor.
