We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Gas Engine Specialist position! POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the GM Power Systems, strives to achieve departmental sales goals through direct personal sales contact with customers on all gas engines going into a standby or prime application within assigned territory, all gas engines sold to contractors within assigned territory, and sales to local contractors for projects outside the Company's assigned territory with the appropriate approval. Additionally, influences sales of parts and service of Caterpillar Gas Engines, Generators and other related products throughout the territory. Builds relationships with customers and keeps them informed of ongoing maintenance and services. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Locates and becomes informed on all standby, prime, and CHP/cogeneration projects to be built within our territory or projects outside our territory involving contractors or engineering firms within our territory. Calls on engineers to provide technical information on the Company's offered products to influence specifications towards Caterpillar. Reviews plans and specifications and interpret specific job requirements and scope of work. Prepares quote worksheets, obtain vendor and shop quotations, and generates cost proposals with scope of work for both sales and product support opportunities. Responsible for processing new orders, including but not limited to, entering of orders into project management system, completing purchaser's agreement, and obtaining approval from credit department. Prepares and transmits site mechanical and electrical plans, schedules, detailed equipment drawings, and submittal for use by the customer, contractor, and end user as needed. Maintains job related documents in an organized manner (PC skills required) and in accordance with the procedures established and as needed for each specific project under the direction of the GM Power Systems. Participates in job walks, coordination meetings, and site visits to support the overall sales process and equipment startup. Works with Service Shop in the design, build, testing and startup of equipment as required by the specifications. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications. Prospects and develops assigned accounts and provides parts and service to meet customer needs. Develops E-commerce and other business opportunities for all assigned accounts, provides quotes and closes sales. Establishes and maintains close-working relationships with customers at all levels. Introduces Hawthorne's parts and service capabilities to all customers. Makes routine sales calls on customers in assigned markets and maintains a quoting process for parts and service. Assists customers in selection of programs that will insure maximum life cycle of their equipment. Provides coordination between customers and said departments to provide best possible service. Develops sales goals and objectives for each market. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the company, department or individual goals and objectives. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at least three (3) years experience with EPG equipment sales in the construction/electrical industry. Must have a valid Class "C" California State Drivers' License with a clean driving record. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Must have good communication skills and proper business etiquette. Ability to multitask and establish priorities. Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment. Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines. Computer skills required; must have good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
