The Sports Director at the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg oversees the development and operations of the sports programs, ensuring the programs meet intended goals. Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities. Recruit, train and develop part-time program staff and volunteers. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations. Manage the sports programs including sports and specialty camps during the summer months, home School P.E., RISE, Church Leagues, and Adult Sports (Basketball, Volleyball, indoor Soccer). Monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compile program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program; secure, schedule, and maintain the needed fields and facilities; create and schedule the activities or events; and maintain and/or update and transport program equipment for games and practices. Ensure programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information. Maintain staff schedules and evaluate staff performance. Organize or participate in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising. Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events. Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Assist with Program Committee meetings. Perform other duties as assigned to include assistance with other facility programming and outreach. QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. One to two years related experience preferred. Within 60 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training. Completion of YMCA program-specific training. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
