Description:
The Assistant Director of Alumni and Donor Relations (Digital Ambassador Manager) plays a pivotal role in leveraging digital platforms to maintain and strengthen relationships with UIC alumni and donors. The Digital Ambassador Manager will build an annual outreach strategy, develop goals and metrics, and manage the student digital ambassador team. Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Donor Acquisition and Engagement, the DMA will inspire the student digital ambassador team to efficiently reach a wide audience, facilitate communication, share meaningful updates about the university, and ultimately encourage philanthropic support. This role not only involves technical skills in utilizing digital tools but also requires strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively lead the connection with stakeholders. This position will champion integration and collaboration engagement strategies across the alumni and donor engagement team and across OVCA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of student ambassadors, providing guidance, training and support to ensure they effectively engage with alumni and donors. Set key and clear performance metrics and goals for the student ambassadors.
With the senior director, strategically identify target populations for outreach, set strategy and determine goals and metrics for the student digital ambassadors.
With the senior director, plan outreach cadences and draft outreach templates for a variety of digital contact methods.
Recruit, interview, hire and onboard student employees to represent the university. Track students’ hours worked, administer payroll, evaluate performance.
Train digital ambassadors on outreach methods, communications and messaging best practices, as well as how to represent the university in a professional and friendly manner.
Utilize data analytics tools to track engagement metrics and measure the success of digital engagement initiatives. Generate regular reports and insights to inform decision-making and optimize strategies for greater impact.
Identify opportunities to enhance collaboration between alumni association, stewardship/donor relations and annual giving outreach.
Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond OVCA to draw from their expertise and knowledge to identify relevant audiences.
In partnership with the OVCA communications team, devise a process to collect information and materials for digital ambassadors to draw from in their outreach.
Work with University of Illinois Foundation (UIF) to request, manage, and code constituent records in the database and digital outreach systems.
Facilitate constituent communication preferences, data integrity and other related projects in the constituent database.
Develop relationships with peer institutions to provide benchmarking information.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) in communications, business administration, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and corresponding mass solicitation and donor stewardship techniques.
Demonstrated success managing digital communication tools (email marketing, calling software, texting, etc).
Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students and constituents.
Ability to learn new technology quickly.
Strong verbal and professional written communication skills.
Proficient software skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
