Job Overview As a Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in helping client stakeholders identify a grants and scholarship management solution that maximizes the value delivered by the HESC (Higher Education Services Corporation), or HESC-sourced, application development team. You will be responsible for investigating business systems, elements of the organization structure, and documenting requirements using industry-standard techniques. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will gather and analyze business needs, validate requirements, and ensure alignment with state and federal standards and strategy. Your expertise in application testing and UX design will be critical in delivering high-quality and user-centric solutions. Job Duties • Analyze existing system documentation and related artifacts to elicit detailed requirements. • Analyze and understand as-is business processes and systems sufficiently to establish to-be workflows and designs. • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including subject matter experts (SMEs), executive teams, managers, program directors, and end-users to meet the business needs of the project. • Conduct requirements gathering, validation, and rationalization processes. • Collaborate with the HESC team on requirements definition to confirm that system requirements align with state and federal standards and strategy. • Evaluate project timelines and priorities. • Adhere to internal controls, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to the systems development life cycle. • Provide guidance to application development resources through product backlogs, user stories, roadmaps, sprint plans, and related artifacts. • Ensure application development resources understand the features and enhancements that need to be developed and deployed to meet the business needs of the project. • Support software validation through user acceptance and similar test strategies. • Develop test scenarios and test cases for system, integration, and UAT using requirements, process flows, and use cases/user stories. Test system functionality and document test results. • Understand and document personas and UX research reports. • Develop experience maps, user journeys, and user flows. • Build UX wireframes. • Generate style-guides and specifications for developers. • Perform usability testing and generate usage analytics reports. • Assist with change control and release planning for system bug fixes, enhancements, and upgrades. • Participate in data migration planning, analysis, and cleansing, working closely with DBA's, vendors, and HESC Business owners. • Provide project management support as needed. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science preferred. • 5 years of relevant experience in performing requirements gathering and business analysis, producing written documentation of requirements, system design, and implementation. • 5 years of experience in requirements elicitation and documentation with participants. • 3 years of working experience performing application testing, developing and executing written test scripts, documenting, tracking, communicating, and reporting defects utilizing testing tools such as Jira, quality center, or rationale. • 3 years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UX designs, including artifacts such as wireframes, storyboards, website mappings, and user flows. • 5 years of experience in developing business requirements by translating the needs, expectations, constraints, and interfaces into a format understandable to both clients and technologists, using various methods (e.g., brainstorming, document analysis, facilitated meetings, focus groups, interface analysis, interviews, observation, prototyping, requirements workshops, reverse engineering, survey questionnaire by asking the right questions to surface essential requirements information). • 5 years of experience working to establish criteria for evaluation and acceptance of requirements, managing requirements scope, obtaining commitment to the requirements from the project participants, and identifying project work and requirements inconsistencies during defect / requirements management and communication. • 5 years of experience in requirement analysis and validation. Analyzing requirements to ensure that they are complete, feasible, realizable, and verifiable. Providing the capability to identify key requirements that have a strong influence on cost, schedule, functionality, risk, or performance. • 5 years of experience analyzing requirements and representing the requirements textually as well as via visual models or graphical form, to effectively communicate the requirements to the required audience.
