The Office of the Vice Provost for Research (VPR) is seeking an

Associate Director for Research

. This position will report to the Director for Research with the primary goal of expanding RDT’s current services. This would be a modified hybrid position (1-2 days/week on campus). The Associate Director will have three direct reports. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Oversee the broadening portfolio of the Research Development Team (RDT), including a pre-award team (including limited submissions), Editorial Assistance Services Initiative (EASI) the graphic designer team and institutional awards programs (e.g., NSF GRFP). Collaborate with leadership across JHU including the VPR office, vice deans for research, and research administration offices (JHURA and ORA). Proactively identify and target funding opportunities for JHU faculty. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with sponsors. Remain up to date on latest changes with sponsors. Host sponsor workshops and visits (e.g., at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in DC). Facilitate faculty development training (basics of a proposal, developing a budget, provide templates, etc.). Help prepare teams for site visits and reverse site visits. Be point of contact for external reviewer panels for internal funding opportunities. Present RDT’s services to departments across JHU and elsewhere as requested. Attend and present at research development conferences and seminars. Proactively seek out opportunities for further expansion and growth of RDT services.

Minimum Qualifications At least seven years’ experience managing diverse teams. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, project management or other related discipline. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications An MBA or master’s Degree in Research Administration, Project Management or other related discipline. Classified Title: Associate Director Research Role/Level/Range: ATP/04/PF Starting Salary Range: $99,800 - $137,400 Annually (Commensurate with experience) Employee group: Full Time Schedule: 37.5 Exempt Status: Exempt Location: Hybrid/Homewood Campus Department name: Vice Provost Research Office of Personnel area: University Administration Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
