Job Overview:

Our client is hiring for a Senior Business Analyst Contractor with experience working across data engineering and analytics projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies and experience working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring data projects align with strategic goals and deliver actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, gather, and document business requirements, translating them into technical specifications that support data engineering and analytics solutions
• Data Engineering & Analytics Focus: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other technical teams to deliver projects focused on data integration, data warehousing, data modeling, and analytics
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure alignment and clear understanding of objectives, timelines, and deliverables
• Documentation & Reporting: Develop detailed documentation, including requirements specifications, process flows, and user stories, ensuring traceability from project initiation to delivery. Generate status reports, project updates, and other documentation as needed
• Data Quality & Integrity: Define and uphold standards for data quality and consistency across projects. Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure best practices are followed in data handling and reporting
• Risk Management: Identify project risks and work proactively to mitigate them, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality project outcomes
• Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by actively seeking feedback, incorporating lessons learned, and refining processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness in future projects

Qualification

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on data engineering, data analytics, or similar domain
• Methodology Expertise: Proficient in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, with the ability to adapt based on project and team requirements. Experience in Scrum or other Agile frameworks is a plus

Technical Skill

• Proficiency in SQL and/or experience with data query language
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling concepts
• Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data analytics tools (e.g., R, Python) is preferred
• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is a plus

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholder

• Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Team Collaboration: A proactive team player who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Certification: Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, Scrum Master, Agile Certified Practitioner) are a plus
