Manufacturing Controls Engineer
Stoughton, Wisconsin - Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a skilled and experienced Manufacturing Controls Engineer. This role will focus on working with and programming controllers and automation systems in a manufacturing environment, including Allen Bradley PLCs and control systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes such as welding, sheet metal operations, and other automated production systems. This engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing existing control systems, as well as developing new control systems to support the production of new products.
This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.
Duties:
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for new products and manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet operational efficiency and product quality standards.
- Program and configure PLCs, primarily Allen Bradley systems, to control and monitor manufacturing equipment, including welding robots, automated sheet metal processing machines, and other production systems.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and optimize existing control systems to improve performance, reliability, and productivity in manufacturing operations.
- Work with automated systems, including robotics and material handling systems, to improve manufacturing workflows, reduce cycle times, and minimize errors.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and system improvements that will enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and safety.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to understand challenges, provide technical support, and suggest improvements to enhance production capabilities.
- Ensure that control systems are maintained and operating optimally by developing and executing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting issues, and providing on-site support as needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation of control system designs, changes, and troubleshooting efforts. Provide regular status updates and performance reports to engineering and operations teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with control systems, PLC programming, and automation in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC programming (Logix 5000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, etc.) and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with control system design, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting techniques.
