POSITION SUMMARY: Manufacturing Engineer. Designing, defining, developing, and implementing manufacturing cycles for new products - as well as refining & improving manufacturing cycles for existing products - in a contract manufacturing setting. This position requires a broad, technical knowledge base of various manufacturing processes (e.g. raw materials, machining, assembly, inspection, packaging, etc.) and the ability to sequence various manufacturing processes in order to create complete manufacturing cycles.

  • Contributing as Manufacturing Engineer to new product introduction (NPI) and existing product transfer programs.
  • Receiving or acquiring product or process specifications, and creating manufacturing cycles to accomplish production of the same. Manufacturing Engineer must be able to read technical drawings, standards, and articles.
  • Designing and developing manufacturing cycles via DMAIC or DMAIC-like processes.
  • Top-level documenting manufacturing cycles by producing process flow documents and manufacturing routings.
  • Creating value stream maps (VSM) of and quantitatively/mathematically analyzing manufacturing cycles.
  • Documenting manufacturing processes within the manufacturing cycle (i.e. creation of work instructions and standards) when required.
  • Creating - or contributing to the creation or development - of manufacturing cycle risk assessments (i.e. pFMEA), control plans, validation protocols, continual improvement processes (CIP), and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare validation or performance qualification protocols for new or modified manufacturing processes, systems, or equipment for production.
  • Working closely with the Production, Quality & Inspection, and Engineering Departments on problem solving (identifying root cause of problems and assisting with technical solutions) to assorted machining, assembly, and inspection processes.
  • Cost estimating and quoting of manufacturing cycles.
  • Contributing to the development of processes within manufacturing cycles by applying the technical engineering principles and knowledge required.
  • Leading and coordinating new product introduction (NPI) programs, when required.
  • Leading and coordinating process improvement efforts on new and existing manufacturing cycles or processes, when required.
  • Providing recommendations and assistance to customers with regard to product design for manufacturing and quality (i.e. DFM, DFQ/I).
  • Preparing manufacturing documentation (e.g. work instructions and standards) and training associates to the same documents, as required.
  • Reporting to Engineering and company Top Management on project or program status and progress.
  • Documenting manufacturing cycles and processes using Microsoft Word and Excel as well as creating drawings using CAD.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expeditious processing of all orders and activities in support of production schedules.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Education: Associates Degree or higher in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is highly preferred. Other degrees or certifications may be considered at the discretion of Engineering Management.
  • Experience: Five years' experience in a manufacturing environment performing CNC and manual machine operation. CAD design and programming experience desirable.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent industry certifications. Degrees in applied mathematics including numerical analysis and probability & statistics.
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to interpret and explain complex, mechanical drawings including GD&T. Understanding of CNC machining processes, including set-up, operation, and control language. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with our internal and external customer base.
