Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all processes and equipment. The group this Engineer is a member of is responsible for the day-to-day activities needed to keep the production line running. This includes interacting with, and giving guidance to, maintenance for repairing production equipment. This also includes interacting with Process Engineering for topics related to process and equipment design. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the Work Instruction package for the area of responsibility and support training of people to the Work Instructions.
Responsibilities
- Develop solutions for problems as related to new and existing products, processes, materials, equipment, and testing.
- Participate in the execution of projects
- Present findings in written reports and verbally in a group setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor projects within stated performance guidelines
- Interact with personnel on technical matters.
- Work as a team member with other Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians.
- Helps build processes and controls.
- Write work instructions to support the manufacturing processes.
Education and Preferrable Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Agricultural
- Knowledge of the following is preferred:
- Material and process development
- Manufacturing and design of composites
- Design for cost and manufacturability
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Regulations, codes, and standards
- hydraulics and pneumatics
- industrial sensors (pressure transducers, thermocouples, Load cells…)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills with a forward-looking and entrepreneurial spirit
- Initiative to learn through various mediums
- The ability to work independently and in a group setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and manage projects
- Ability to research a topic by investigating published work, through supplier communication, and by experimenting with new materials and processes
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity
- Adept at making appropriate decisions using sound judgement
- Willing to support where needed and be hands-on in a messy environment
- Proficient at documenting research, testing, and collecting/analyzing data
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a strong sense of urgency
- Treats others with equity and respect regardless of differences
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- An understanding of:
- How to instrument and use data acquisition
- Tool and fixture design concepts
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk eight hours per day and carry up to 20 pounds
- Occasional travel, both domestic and international
