This position is for a Level 4 (Management) Manufacturing Engineer over Cylinders. This Lead Manufacturing Engineer is a working supervisor over the technical staff (engineers and technicians) that are responsible for all processes and equipment used in the Weld and Wind areas. This lead is responsible for the technical experts in the assigned area. The group this Engineering Lead oversees is responsible for the day-to-day activities needed to keep the production line running. This includes interacting with, and giving guidance to, maintenance for repairing production equipment. This also includes interacting with Process Engineering for topics related to process and equipment design. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the Work Instruction package for the area of responsibility and support training of people to the Work Instruction.
Responsibilities
• Processes and equipment used in the Liner Weld and Cylinder Winding areas
• Develop solutions for problems as related to new and existing products, processes, materials, and equipment.
• Participate as a technical lead in the conception, planning, and execution of projects
• Present findings in written reports and verbally in a group setting
• Develop, implement, and monitor projects within stated performance guidelines
• Interact with personnel on technical matters that require coordination of activities
• Able to fulfill roles and responsibilities without supervision
• Responsible for development projects
• Train and monitor the work of lower-level Manufacturing Engineers
• Lead a subgroup of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians.
• Support formulating individual objectives to meet department objectives
• Full understanding of how Manufacturing Engineers interacts with other business functions
• Helps build processes and controls
Education and Preferrable Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Agricultural
• Five or more years of relevant work experience
• Experience with filament winding processes
• Proficient with:
o Material and process development
o Manufacturing and design of composites
o Design for cost and manufacturability
o Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
o Regulations, codes, and standards
o hydraulics and pneumatics
o industrial sensors (pressure transducers, thermocouples, Load cells…)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- How to instrument and use data acquisition
- Programming (i.e. scripts, machine code, python)
- Tool and fixture design concepts
- Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk eight hours per day and carry up to 20 pounds
• Occasional travel, both domestic and international
