A Day in the Life of a Manufacturing Automation Engineer

As a Manufacturing Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimizing production processes, improving system efficiency, and ensuring the smooth integration of manufacturing systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that reduce costs, enhance product quality, and keep production running seamlessly.


Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and systems to improve quality and efficiency
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing processes to reduce costs and enhance productivity
  • Identify production issues and implement corrective actions to ensure high product quality
  • Specify and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and tools for current and new products
  • Manage capital budget projects to support production and new product introduction (NPI)
  • Evaluate and implement automation solutions to streamline manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to integrate processes
  • Participate in Kaizen events to foster continuous improvement in manufacturing operations
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, minimizing downtime and ensuring proper functionality


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role
  • Proficiency with CAD software and manufacturing-related software applications
  • Experience with equipment control systems and programming (e.g., PLC, LabView)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid project management and organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production equipment
  • Ability to write clear and concise procedures and work instructions
