SUMMARYShape Technologies Group is seeking a Lean Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in developing and improving manufacturing, assembly, and shipping/receiving processes through the application of lean manufacturing principles. Your responsibilities will include increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing workflows by conducting floor space and workflow studies, implementing automation, and driving process improvements. You will report to the Director of Sustaining Engineering and collaborate closely with other departments to maintain seamless operations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Develop and implement lean manufacturing principles and techniques to increase efficiency and reduce waste.Developing and delivering training programs for lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etcDefines manufacturing process for parts including machine and assembly work centers, set-up and run time estimates as well as manufacturing standard operating procedure. Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Conduct machine and assembly capability, floor space optimization, and workflow studies and drive improvements including automation opportunities.Providing input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities.Complete Capital Expenditure Requests for new machines and tooling.Design and optimize manufacturing layouts to improve workflow and minimize bottlenecks.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean practices and reduce lead timesConduct time studies and implement improvements to reduce cycle times and increase throughputMonitor and track data to identify trends and make data-driven decisionsOther duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Strong proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.Expertise in machining, robotics, and assembly processes, with the ability to define and optimize workflows.Advanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for designing and analyzing manufacturing layouts.Skilled in conducting time studies and workflow optimization to reduce cycle times and increase throughput.Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and act on data to drive process improvements.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership.Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and presentations.Demonstrates a professional attitude with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes.Highly organized with strong time management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience.3-5 years of experience in lean manufacturing engineering, with a focus on implementing efficiency improvements in machining, robotics, and assembly environments.Proven track record of delivering results through lean techniques in a fast-paced, high-precision manufacturing setting.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
