Position Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, data collection, and analysis of manufacturing processes. This role involves identifying challenges in production, related to materials, machinery/equipment, labor, and tooling, and recommending effective solutions to enhance overall operations.

  • None.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • Provide support to production processes, which includes operator training and process integration.
  • Offer guidance and direction in the selection and development of necessary tooling and fixtures based on process requirements and customer specifications.
  • Assess production program equipment, hardware, and tooling, providing recommendations for repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Create and update Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis), and detailed Process Work Instructions.
  • Lead the specification, testing, installation, and ramp-up of new machinery.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives across work instructions, control plans, equipment, maintenance, quality, inventory management, efficiency, and production activities.
  • Ensure processes are in compliance with safety and ergonomic standards.
  • Lead or support problem-solving efforts using techniques such as Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D, and 5-Why analysis.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of new processes, methods, and production controls.
  • Install new equipment, ensure it operates efficiently, and train others on proper machinery operation.
  • Provide support for machine PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and related controls.
  • Develop and maintain operational manuals for both new and existing equipment.
  • Stay informed about emerging manufacturing technologies and trends, applying this knowledge to recommend and implement cutting-edge processes and solutions.
  • Contribute to Energy Storage applications and processes, including but not limited to welding, storage, and handling of high-voltage products.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Experience with manufacturing data systems such as Plex, MES, or Ignition is preferred.
  • Experience in process or engineering improvements is advantageous.
  • Proficient in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
  • Familiarity with Energy Storage products and technologies is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics (e.g., Fanuc) and laser welding (e.g., IPG) is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Process Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Between five to ten years of experience in relevant technical disciplines is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, bending, and movement throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as required.
