Job Description
Summary:
The Engineering Manager will oversee the cost estimation, design, implementation, launch, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and processes. This role requires leadership in managing cross-functional projects, solving complex technical problems, and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The Engineering Manager will drive innovation, optimize processes, and manage a team to meet company goals while maintaining industry-leading standards in automotive, injection molding, and plastics processing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimating & Feasibility: Lead cost estimating and feasibility studies for manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Technology & Equipment Development: Research and implement new technologies, materials, and capital equipment.
- Tooling Design & Validation: Oversee tooling and fixture design, tooling validation, and mold flow analysis to meet company standards.
- Program/Project Management: Manage projects from conception through launch, including coordinating resources and timelines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise tool room and automation teams, driving performance metrics and strategic initiatives.
- Process Optimization: Provide process support, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Vendor Management: Select and manage vendors for equipment and materials, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the successful execution of projects.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA/IOSHA standards and other applicable regulations; promote a safe working environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts in process innovation, incorporating industry trends, and implementing business and market insights into technical solutions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support IATF initiatives and coordinate safety efforts with the Safety Administrator.
- Stay current with industry trends through research and continuous education.
- Establish and track team goals aligned with the company’s strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, particularly in automotive, injection molding, or plastics processing.
- Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
