Job Summary/Overview

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will support the Plant leadership to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and facilitate process improvement projects and kaizens to reduce waste, meet customer demand at best in class lead-time, improve inventory management, reduce scrap and rework, deliver direct labor cost savings, and improve equipment reliability and output.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and teams, interacting with all levels of the organization and enabling employee engagement.
  • Conduct training to drive cultural change through "learn by doing" exercises and workshops
  • Conduct advanced data collection and analysis for value stream mapping, process mapping, and root cause analysis.Utilize data to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/ business and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, and facility layout.
  • Develop and conduct compliance audits, program evaluations and reviews to drive results with the fortitude to ensure change is permanent, including a formal 5S program.
  • Develop and document standard work and operational processes.
  • Enable successful execution of daily management processes, including SQDCI daily gemba walk.
  • Support material flow improvements in scheduling (Kanban, sequencing, kitting) and material handling methods
  • Support TPM and SMED tool deployment with workshop facilitation to improve machine uptime
  • Work with floor Supervisors & hourly Team Members to drive efficiency improvements that impact successful attainment of Corporate and Plant KPI's and AIP's
  • Support the development and execution of the annual strategy deployment and capital implementation plans.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Possess ability to perform cost analysis to use in decision making process for make vs. buy.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP software (AS/400 experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience with non-destructive inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Familiar with Root Cause and Preventive Action methods.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Ability to apply concepts in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, physics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings/prints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 2 years of comprehensive lean experience
  • Ability to prepare and present information to various levels and audiences
  • Ability to work with and influence associates effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate technical information
  • Experience in developing standard work and documenting processes, including conducting time studies
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and change agent ability
  • Proficiency in MS Office
