Overview:

The Production Planning Department is a key point in maintaining visibility of projected resource allocation to fulfill secured sales plan and in the tracking of timely order fulfillment in the life of the production cycle..

The Planner is responsible for the transition of orders from Sales to the Production Department. The Planner translates sales order information into production orders, To achieve this a thorough understanding of the computer system is critical. Once an order is released to the shop, the planner must continually monitor the orders and be a proactive point of communication between the shop and internal owner of the sales order.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Creates production orders after reviewing stocks and sales order demand for Fry trim parts.
  • Communicates between production and customer service regarding ship dates, expedited requests, and material or production issues and their effect on ship dates.
  • Maintains schedules in California for Welding & Graph, LED, Paint, Radius, Punch and Pack, and Roll Form.
  • Communicates with the Area Leads on dates and Material concerns impacting the schedules.
  • Coordinates material needs and production scheduling for all Operation orders.
  • Creates production orders detailing bills of material and routings based on the order released from the Project Managers and Customer Service.
  • Creates production orders for stock materials and Sales Orders based on Open Order Report
  • Maintains production schedule including adding orders, archiving orders, updating status, and progress to ship dates
  • Communicates between production and project managers about ship dates and any concerns about orders or materials.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships in order to effectively interfaces with different departments (Purchasing, Production, Inventory, Customer Service, CAD)
  • Reviews change requests and takes any actions needed
  • Utilizes planning applications (Microsoft Navision, Excel, Outlook).
  • Advises Management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
  • Coordinates intra-company transfers between California and Georgia
  • Works closely with Purchasing to to manage Sub-Contract Work Orders
  • Interprets drawings and Engineering BOM data to create production orders and routers
  • Follows processes as established and required. Proposes adjustments / improvements as identified.
  • Plans and releases production orders to the floor for processing and updates schedules with efficiency and capacity utilization.
  • Tracks old PORs and update dates as needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Purchasing Functions
  • Comprehension of Drawings (Plots)
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Tools)

Qualifications:

  • College Degree Preferred (Minimum High School Diploma)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Planner in a Production Environment (Bilingual is a Plus)
  • Detail Oriented and Sense of Urgency

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels.
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • At times exposed to Dust and Smells in the Warehouse due to the manufacturing aspect.
