DESCRIPTION:
Finlays is embarking on an ambitious growth plan to expand production to meet the requirements of our customer base. This expansion requires highly automated process and packaging equipment to provide a lean and productive operation.
This role will perform engineering level project management and technical troubleshooting to ensure safe and reliable operation of plant equipment. This role is essential in helping plant leadership make decisions to improve operational performance and overall profitability. Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of all personnel (company and contractors) involved in the maintenance, alteration and repair of equipment, buildings, structures and facilities, the movement, installation, repair and overhaul of machines, tools and plant equipment and the formulation and effective implementation of preventive maintenance programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide engineering designs and solutions for customers to be applied in either Finlay’s facilities or those of Finlays’ business partners
- Cooperate closely with Maintenance and Operations to improve day-to-day operations of all manufacturing lines
- In close liaison with key stakeholders, evaluate existing process performance and put in place measures to ensure a continuous evaluation and reporting procedure, taking responsibility for maintaining and developing reporting procedures once set up
- Take the lead on suitable process or unit equipment projects, taking responsibility for on Budget and timely completion using both internal and external skills and resources
- Undertake process and equipment trials to the highest standards, documenting and reporting upon these
- Use Mechanical Engineering skills to find practical solutions for problems and opportunities which arise within Finlay’s business.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably within the food and beverage industry
- Thorough knowledge of plant layout, material handling and equipment/systems installations and modifications to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing and welding
- Technical experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Microsoft Project), AutoCAD
- Experience in World Class Manufacturing or similar, and track record of achieving change within that environment.
- Experience with high-speed packaging lines and Thermal Process Systems
- Experience with Kaizen methodologies or continuous improvement processes is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mixed Warehouse Manufacturing and Office Setting: The role is primarily based in an office environment with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. The office environment is connected to a warehouse manufacturing facility with large industrial equipment.
- Team Collaboration: Frequent interaction with team members and other departments, requiring effective communication and collaboration.
- Noise Level: The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate, typical of an office setting. The manufacturing facility noise level is loud and ear plugs are required in specific areas.
- Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Communication: Regularly required to talk and hear, both in person and over the phone.
- Mobility: Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Lifting: May occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
