These assessments are used for a variety of accountability measures. Why does the job exist? This Data and Assessment Coordinator supports the work of the Assessment, Research, Evaluation and Accountability Division with the Public Education Department. The Coordinator will ensure valid and reliable assessment data in their assigned assessment program. The Coordinator will program manage the assigned vendors on behalf of AREA and will conduct data analysis of the vendor results. The Coordinator will need to clean data, merge data, and disaggregate student assessment results. The Coordinator will train and communicate with district and charter district test coordinators on requirements for enrolling students into the vendor testing portal. The Coordinator will be required to work with PED IT systems to pull student demographic information. How does it get done? Vendor management Documentation and Data Management Research/Data Analytics/Statistics Report Preparation, Training and Presentations *The Coordinator meets internally to understand standard operating procedures *The Coordinator uses statistical computing software to carry out the work. *The Coordinator validates student-level performance data for one or more assessment programs* *The Coordinator collaborates with districts and charters, the Information Technology (IT) Bureau to ensure the successful matching of demographic data to vendor provided assessment records. *The Coordinator presents aggregated performance data in a consistent format for multiple policy and research purposes *The Coordinator establishes and maintains friendly, service-oriented relationships (internal and external to PED) with education stakeholders *The Coordination makes decisions informed by past practice, current context, and an attitude of continuous improvement *The Coordinator is able to interpret federal policy accountability and create internal data collection processes to meet policies Who are the customers? This position serves the New Mexico Public Education Department, Districts and Charter School across the state, and partial requirements for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Title I state accountability model. Ideal Candidate 1. Experience in elementary education assessments adminstered within grades, Kindergarten - 5th 2. Skill in transforming datasets from multiple sources to fit prescribed file layouts 2. Oral communication skills as portrayed by presentations to disparate groups 3. Written communication skills, with a specific ability to convey technical concepts to a broad audience 4. Fluency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and PPT Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other related field with five (5) years of experience directly related to position at the time of posting or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field andor direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Working Conditions Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
