Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Director of External Reporting & Technical Accounting, this position will interface with many corporate and operational finance teams, as well as our external auditors. Primary SEC reporting responsibilities include a combination of preparation and review of 10-Q and 10-K filings, as well as quarterly earnings releases. Primary technical accounting responsibilities include analyzing accounting issues and providing guidance to members of the finance organization, reviewing significant contracts, non-standard transactions and emerging GAAP for accounting implications, writing accounting position memos, supporting lease accounting activities, and overseeing the Company's corporate accounting policies.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare sections of our 10-Q and 10-K filings, and review sections prepared by team members
Assist in researching, benchmarking and drafting new disclosures
Facilitate preparation of quarterly 8-Ks / earnings releases and coordinate with FP&A, Legal and IR
Provide accounting guidance to finance teams to ensure business transactions and material contracts are properly recorded and disclosed
Perform technical research on complex accounting and disclosure issues. Topics may include leases, business combinations, software development cost capitalization, segments reporting, impairment assessment, stock-based compensation expense, investments, foreign currency, debt and others
Prepare accounting position memos on technical issues and non-standard transactions and present those to our external auditors
Monitor and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards
Support ASC 842 lease accounting activities including review of lease contracts and abstracted data, analysis of software-generated accounting entries, and implementation of process improvements
Support certain monthly and quarterly accounting processes, including share-based compensation and commissions
Support the review and creation of accounting policies
Support Controllership compliance activities
Participate in special projects as needed
Job Requirements: Substantial experience in the review or preparation of 10-Qs and 10-Ks
Ability to efficiently and effectively research, interpret, apply and communicate GAAP accounting rules as they relate to various business activities and transactions
Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaborative skills
Must be able to make judgment calls on accounting / reporting issues
Excellent writing skills; ability to draft SEC reporting disclosures and technical accounting position memos
Ability to effectively prioritize with competing and deadline sensitive initiatives
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
Strong organizational skills and process oriented
Ability to drive process improvements and identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes and tasks
Team player
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
12+ years of experience in Accounting / Finance roles (with minimum 4 years Big 4 experience preferred)
Technical accounting and SEC reporting knowledge
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
