A Day in the Life:
The Overnight Trauma Hospital Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the care and treatment of animals in our Trauma Hospital to ensure complete and humane care is given in a timely manner. They will compile and report on all departmental activities of the overseen medical areas. This individual will work alongside their team and focus on training new staff members, oversee restocking and cleanliness of work areas, create staffing schedules, approve time cards, and coach staff as required. They will coordinate activities with other departments to ensure efficient flow and treatment of all patients. The Overnight Trauma Hospital Supervisor will also evaluate, update, and implement new/existing policies and procedures to keep medical areas in adherence to all board, and OSHA requirements.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma OR GED required.
- Graduation from technical school preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or shelter medicine.
- One year supervisory experience.
- Must be able to fulfill all duties of a Vet Tech II or CVT.
- Above average proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
- Promote safety on a continual basis; promptly report all on-the-job injuries sustained by medical staff working in the trauma hospital to the Manager.
- Provide input to the Manager on staff performance, policies, and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that department goals are achieved.
- Inform Veterinarians regarding status of all animals under treatment that have been waiting for longer than 72 hours for medical procedures.
- Perform technician duties alongside with medical teams.
- Assist with interviews, coaching on job performance and add input on staff review.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air-conditioned and heated office environment.
