Job Summary: The Payroll Analyst is responsible for performing payroll-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Director to support payroll processing, compliance, and reporting. This role requires advanced analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong ability to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide world-class employee customer service, addressing payroll-related inquiries and issues.
Manage payroll for temporary and permanent staff, coordinating with staffing vendors as needed.
Process and audit payroll, including regular, overtime, and special payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Develop and deliver payroll-related training materials for employees and management.
Conduct preliminary job analysis to support compensation benchmarking and payroll structuring.
Assist with Workers' Compensation by reporting payroll-related data for claims, tracking employee statuses, and managing light-duty assignments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including regular audits of payroll records.
Process and communicate leave of absence payroll adjustments, including FMLA, medical, and personal leaves.
Prepare detailed payroll reports and analyses, identifying trends and discrepancies.
Reconcile payroll accounts and support financial reporting processes, including budget and expense tracking.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll processes and integration.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in payroll or related HR functions.
Expert level in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday) and secure data storage practices.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and reasoning skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret data visually.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write reports, correspond professionally, and present effectively to groups.
Broad knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Customer-focused attitude with high professionalism and discretion.
