Position Overview The Safety and Compliance Manager will lead and manage the safety and compliance program for Uniuni Fleet's Motor Carrier and DOT operations. The role involves ensuring all vehicles and drivers comply with DOT regulations, as well as overseeing safety training, incident management, and accident analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and compliance within the transportation industry, familiarity with safety platforms like J.J. Keller, and the ability to create and implement comprehensive policies to maintain a high standard of safety. Requirements Key Responsibilities Policy Development: Create, implement, and regularly update safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations. Audit Management: Conduct regular audits of driver and vehicle records, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards. Incident Reporting: Manage and report all incidents, including accidents, to relevant authorities, ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, identifying trends, issues, and areas for improvement. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for transportation-related incidents. Driver/Staff Training: Provide ongoing training and updates on DOT/FMSCA safety regulations to drivers and other transportation staff. Regulatory Updates: Stay current on regulatory changes and ensure that company practices remain compliant with evolving standards. Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors to procure safety equipment and services, ensuring they meet regulatory standards. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and address potential safety hazards within the fleet. Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of safety and compliance activities, audits, and incident reports. Requirements Experience: Proven experience in managing safety and compliance programs for Motor Carrier and DOT operations. Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and compliance platforms such as J.J. Keller. Demonstrated ability to review driver and vehicle accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and management abilities, especially in leading safety and compliance training programs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with legal teams and handling discussions on accident responsibility. Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills for conducting audits, risk assessments, and performance tracking. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures. Knowledgeable in regulatory changes and ensuring company compliance with evolving standards. Proficient in monitoring and analyzing safety performance metrics to identify and address areas of improvement. Experience in developing and implementing emergency preparedness plans. Ability to manage vendor relationships for safety equipment and services. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS) are preferred. Certifications: Ongoing education and professional development in DOT, FMCSA, and safety regulations.
