Avionics Software Engineer (Embedded)

About Starpath Starpath Robotics is developing a full stack solution for commercial scale rocket propellant production on the Moon and Mars. If high ownership, fast pace, working with hardware, and solving challenging problems sounds like a dream come true, come join the team Avionics Software Engineer (Embedded) In this role, you will be responsible for developing embedded software on spacecraft hardware. You will conduct trades that optimize for cost, speed, and performance. You will drive your system(s) from prototype phase through production and lunar surface operations. Responsibilities Take high ownership of embedded software from concept through operation on the lunar surface. Write performant, highly reliable, and maintainable code for custom spacefaring hardware Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews. Develop sensor and actuator drivers, telemetry systems, remote command and control systems, device and process management systems, and more. Integrate GNC/Autonomy algorithms onto custom hardware Create SIL and HIL test frameworks with a balance of development speed and system reliability in mind Required Qualifications Experience in Python and C, C++, or Rust Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, OR demonstrated excellence at design & development of embedded systems via significant professional experience 2 years of experience designing & building embedded systems Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking Experience with design of embedded systems for aerospace, automotive, or robotic applications Experience with Embedded Linux or with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) Outstanding communication skills Evidence of exceptional engineering ability A desire to make Humans a multi-planet species Preferred Qualifications Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world embedded devices. Experience in an agile development environment Professional engineering leadership experience Desire and capability to develop software on rapid timelines & demonstrate extreme ownership High levels of personal agency & productivity A strong desire to make Humans a multi-planet species Position Details Location: Los Angeles - Hawthorne Salary base rate is $80k-$210k/yr, plus equity package; compensation scales with candidate experience PTO & health/dental/vision coverage include Additional Requirements Willing to work extended hours as needed EAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
