We are building one of the key enabling technologies that will make Humans a multi-planet species.If high ownership, fast pace, working with hardware, and solving challenging problems sounds like a dream come true, come join the team!Rover Autonomy EngineerIn this role, you will lead development of the autonomy system for Starpath’s fleet of autonomous mining robots from sensor selection through qualification and lunar surface operations.ResponsibilitiesTake high ownership of the autonomy system from concept through operation on the lunar surface.Design full autonomy architecture including selecting sensors, building sensor fusion algorithms, and designing other software algorithms needed for autonomy on the surface of the moon and mars.Write performant, highly reliable, and maintainable autonomy code for Starpath’s fleet of lunar rovers.Create plan for qualification of autonomy system prior to initial lunar mission.Work with the Embedded Software team to integrate autonomy algorithms onto custom spacefaring hardware.Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.Required QualificationsDegree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, OR demonstrated excellence at design & development of autonomous vehicles via significant professional experience.5+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years of experience building autonomous vehicles.Experience with sensor selection for vehicle autonomy.Experience writing software algorithms for autonomy in aerospace, automotive, or robotics applications.Outstanding communication skills.Evidence of exceptional engineering ability.A desire to make Humans a multi-planet species.Preferred QualificationsDeveloped, debugged and deployed software that has been used in the real world.Experience in integrating software onto custom electronics hardware.Experience in a start-up or agile development environment.Professional engineering leadership experience.Desire and capability to develop software on rapid timelines & demonstrate extreme ownership.High levels of personal agency & productivity.A strong desire to make Humans a multi-planet species.Position DetailsLocation: Los Angeles - Hawthorne.Salary base rate is $130k-$210k/yr, plus equity package; compensation scales with candidate experience.PTO & health/dental/vision coverage included.EAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
