Job Summary: Maintain the operation and reliability of the UWF enterprise campus networks in consultation with the Network Engineer III. Assistance with associated aspects of campus enterprise networks Including, but not limited to: - Carrying out and preserving the design of the Network Engineer III. - Maintenance of the Wired and Wireless LAN/WAN aspects of the network. - Maintenance of the enterprise VPN and Edge Firewalls. - IP Management. - Data Center Power and Fiber Plant. - Network security configurations (ACLs) and participation in the ITS Security Team. - Administration of Network Services such as DHCP and RADIUS.

Minimum Qualifications: Step II: Network Engineer II Duties: In addition to the general duties, the position is responsible for one or more "Major" network systems and possibly one "Critical" system. Requires a deep knowledge of these systems, taking ownership of their maintenance, and full life cycle. Responsibilities: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. Minimum qualifications: Qualifications appropriate for previous step, recent related credential or certification and practical knowledge of the job area, advanced education or 2 years work experience in a network support role.
Position Qualifications: Broad and practical job knowledge of the area obtained through recent related credential or certifications. Expertise, and experience in administering, installing, and maintaining Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and Wireless Networking Technologies. 4-year college degree in an appropriate area of specialization or two years work education or 2 years work experience in a network support role.
Preferred Qualifications More than 2 years experience administering, installing, and maintaining Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and Wireless Networking Technologies. Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or valid advanced certification (CCNP, CISSP, Network+)
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
60% - Collaborate with other Network Engineers on the design, installation, and maintenance of the enterprise campus network, including overseeing the design of wired (LAN & WAN), VPN and wireless networks. Assists with installing and upgrading network equipment in both the data center and communications closets within buildings throughout UWF main campus as well as remote sites. Configure and install networking equipment to include equipment such as switches, VoIP phones, wireless access points, UPS, VLANs and associated security. - (Essential) 15% - Responsible for security aspects of the UWF Network including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS. Additionally, security duties may include monitoring of critical logs to detect and investigate anomalous behavior and reacting to security incidents as necessary at the direction of the CISO, Deputy CISO, and/or Director of Infrastructure Services & Security/CTO - (Essential) 25% - Participates in ITS internal standard processes and procedures regarding change management and alerting. Focuses on keeping an accurate inventory of network devices, and Fiber plant. Ensures proper documentation is created and maintained for procedures and standards in relation to the campus enterprise network in accordance with ITS internal standards. - (Essential)
