Job Summary/Primary Purpose:
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining key communication tools and assets to assist in the efforts to promote the Kroc effectively and positively in our community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the creation of an overall social media strategy to expand following, promote Kroc Center activities, foster relationship building, and engage our members and the community in the purpose and mission of the Kroc Center. Design and develop social media content for all relevant platforms to effectively execute and support the implementation of the approved social media strategy. Utilize media equipment to develop and edit photographic and video content that effectively tells the story of the Kroc and the people who engage in its activities. Collect, analyze, and provide key social media analytics to leadership to guide future strategic decisions. Recommend appropriate modifications or adjustments to paid social spend to support campaigns and other identified promotional efforts. Coordinate resources for organization, storage, and effective retrieval processes for media assets such as photos, music, videos, and other multimedia content. Responsible for content creation for monthly member newsletters to support overall marketing campaigns and programmatic strategies. Review and collaborate with program departments to assure maintenance of website content - visual assets, links, and copy - are current and relevant to operations. In coordination with programming departments, develop and manage content for internal video screens in concert with established promotional objectives. Development of promotional materials and other marketing collateral as requested and required. All other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a related concentration (e.g., Communications, Marketing) preferred. At least three years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously. Advanced skills across the digital marketing/communications space, including web content management systems and social media platforms. Experience in photographic and video collection and editing. Thorough understanding of search engine optimization and ways to improve site rankings a plus. Experience with the use of Adobe Creative Cloud (IN-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), social media management and design tools (Canva, Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and email campaign management tools (Constant Contact) or equivalents. Good communication skills including interpersonal skills. English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful. Ability to collaborate and work within a team. Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters Strong independent judgement. Proficient computer skills required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
Other Qualifications:
Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions:
The work environment is a community center with light to moderate traffic and noise levels. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered humid (natatorium) while other locations (gymnasium) may be considered moderately loud in nature.
