North Corps General Manager

The starting salary for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 depending on experience.

Job Summary/Primary Purpose:
The General Manager provides leadership and oversight to the North Corps management and staff in order to implement the vision established by the Corps Officers. Responsible for providing general oversight of the facility and its policies to assure the safety of guests and staff. To support the Corps Officer, create and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, promotion of best practices and innovative solutions to fulfill and advance the mission of The Salvation Army.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with Corps Officers and other members of the leadership team to develop and maintain overall strategies, priorities and direction.
Responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operational activities of the center to include team schedules.
Ensure routine matters are handled at the appropriate level, troubleshooting and problem-solving escalated issues to satisfactory resolution, and informing the Corps Officers.
Creates an environment of continuous improvement, working with Directors and Managers on measures for all departments in order to meet program, staffing, and budget objectives.
Provide leadership, oversight, and assure implementation of all local risk management and emergency procedures as well as all established TSA policies and procedures.
Responsible to conduct facility inspections and coordinate setting of priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling, furnishings, and equipment, as required.
Develops and manages capital improvement plans and projects in conjunction with Divisional Headquarters.
Supports and guides Officers in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets and programs that fulfill and advance the mission of TSA.
Develop and evaluate staff policies and procedures and maintain the center's operations manual - coordinating with HR or other relevant departments at both the local, divisional, and territorial level.
Maintains an active presence and represents the North Corps in community groups and in public forums, in the absence of the Corps Officers, as directed.
Provides oversight of North Corps center-wide events to assure events meet strategic objectives.
Coordinates with Corps Officers, Divisional and Territorial personnel on projects, to include fundraising in support of programs and mission advancement.
Responsible for building community partnerships and maintains contact with potential and current donors, external community groups and other potential partners.
Lead and coordinate staff meetings, management team meetings, and committee meetings as necessary; determines content, focus and maintain effective communication to achieve desired objectives.
This position may be required to attend events, meetings and other activities outside of normal work hours to include weekends and holidays.
Driving is an essential function of the position.

Education and/or Experience:
Master's degree in business or equivalent and at least 5 years of related experience in organizational management and leadership.
Qualifications:

Possess strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work/communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and program staff without prejudice, demonstrating the ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy.
Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite along with the ability to access website for timekeeping and pay purposes.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
English proficiency required; Spanish language skill helpful and have the ability to write speeches and articles for publications and to effectively present information to public groups, senior management, and boards of directors.
Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
Strong independent judgement.
Other Qualifications:
Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision. Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions:
The majority of the workday will be in a mixed environment including offices, service counters, and other program spaces. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered humid (natatorium) while other locations (gymnasium) may be considered moderately loud in nature.
