POSITION PURPOSE
The BI Analyst is pivotal in driving Zumiez' strategic decisions by providing advanced data analytics, financial insights, and predictive modeling. This role involves deep analysis of complex data sets to inform budgeting, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage tools such as SQL, Excel, and PowerBI to develop comprehensive reports and dashboards that empower leadership with actionable insights. The BI Analyst will consult and provide insights to field and operational leadership to solve Zumiez North Americas biggest operational challenges.
The BI Analyst will prioritize: Continuous improvement of the Operations Team reporting and dashboard systems Continual analysis of established metrics to identify new critical business insights Develop dashboards and reporting that provides a first-class end user experience Providing expertise through clear recommendations supported with relevant data sets A high level of data accuracy, integrity, and cleanliness JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and execute sophisticated data queries across various datasets to extract actionable insights, supporting operational and strategic decisions. Lead the Store Team budgeting process. Employing data analytics for financial planning across various business domains, including labor, operations, and facilities & maintenance. Perform detailed travel expense analysis and modeling to identify savings opportunities. Develop and maintain advanced reports and dashboards in Excel and PowerBI, ensuring accessibility and comprehension for decision-makers at all levels across the field and home office teams. Conduct impact modeling to evaluate the financial and operational effects of strategic decisions and new initiatives. Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial updates to leadership, highlighting key financial trends, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate closely with IT, finance, and operational teams to ensure data accuracy & integrity and, alignment with business objectives. Collaborate with IT and Accounting to balance data access with security and compliance. Proactively provide Head of Operations with status updates on current projects and priorities. Partner with field leadership to ensure analytics and insights are in support of the current strategic direction and priorities of the field team. JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, or a related field. 2-3 years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics, preferably in the retail sector. Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and PowerBI for data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation. Strong experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and predictive modeling. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Retail, hospitality, or restaurant analyst experience preferred. Thrives in an environment of ambiguity with a passion for entrepreneurship/consulting PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to sit in stationary position in an office environment for extended periods of time and work on a PC without limitations
