Job Description:
As a SQL Server DBA, you will provide comprehensive database administration, performance tuning, and maintenance for multiple mainframe DB2 databases supporting approximately 10 client applications. This role focuses on ensuring best practices in database planning, design, performance optimization, capacity planning, and system growth. You will also assist in migrating mainframe data to modern relational databases. Collaboration with the DBA ITM1 team will be key to meeting team goals and maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for mainframe DB2 databases, ensuring optimal performance and stability. Perform database planning, design, and configuration adhering to best practices. Monitor and enhance database performance, capacity, and growth. Collaborate with teams to facilitate migration of mainframe data to relational databases. Support and maintain approximately 10 client database applications, including OJI, RCEXPRESS, WOTC, and SETS data warehouse. Analyze system requirements and implement database solutions that meet project needs. Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with client standards. Resolve database-related issues promptly and effectively. Document database processes, procedures, and configurations. Assist in achieving team metrics and objectives through collaboration with the DBA ITM1.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
Minimum 9 years of experience in database administration or a related field. Proficiency in managing DB2 databases with experience supporting multiple applications. Experience in database migration from mainframe systems to modern relational databases. SQL Server DBA certification preferred. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent technical study. Familiarity with database tools and best practices for performance tuning and optimization. Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams. Experience working with state agencies or client systems is a plus.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
