Job Description

This position will support a variety of events held at all campuses a the College of Southern Nevada, under the direction of the Events Management Department Director. Strong audiovisual technology skills and the ability to work in collaboration with various groups of people is necessary. Must ensure guidelines and protocols are met for all audiovisual systems. Plans, schedules, and supports event related audio-visual needs throughout the campus for internal and external clients including conferences, lectures, meetings, performances, and special events. Consults with users on event needs and makes audio visual equipment and labor recommendations. Maintains equipment inventories, monitors equipment, and recommends system upgrades. Must have the ability to move and transport cart-based equipment, projectors, and screen monitors between buildings and during inclement weather. Work in enclosed spaces in the vicinity of numerous electronic components.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:.
Repair audiovisual equipment by determining malfunctions, testing, identifying operator error or adjustments needed. Provide technical support to staff and users and assist users with software applications, connectivity and system problems. Overhaul, clean and lubricate equipment; install improved components and software; order and replace parts. Create, maintain and troubleshoot connections between a wide variety of electronic media equipment such as overhead projectors, Smartboards, cameras, speaker systems/sound equipment, microphones, and video conferencing units. Maintain equipment according to manufacturer's maintenance schedule. Clean and operate equipment, train personnel on proper use; maintain service schedules and troubleshoot potential problems. Determine need for tools and replacement parts; handle and store chemicals properly; and prepare reports on services, materials, and supplies. Suggest, run and monitor audio and video equipment systems by determining specifications necessary to meet needs; ordering parts and equipment; determining conduits available for installation; installing cables and connectors; installing new or updated software; placing, securing, connecting, and testing equipment. Perform related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of full-time experience performing the repair and maintenance of audiovisual, electronic, or tele-media equipment; OR one year of experience as an Audiovisual Technician I in Nevada State service;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
General knowledge of
Common sources of contacts in electronics field for suggestions for repairs, purchase, performance, and installation of audiovisual equipment. Ability to
Locate trouble in audiovisual, recording, public address, video, and computer equipment and their connections. Set up and operate audiovisual apparatus under a variety of lighting and acoustical conditions. Read and understand schematics/service manuals pertaining to modern electronic media equipment. Communicate effectively, in explaining lab policies, procedures, services, equipment operation and use of instructional media. Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. With occasional evening and weekend hours, as events dictate. Starting Salary
Grade 27, Step 1 $46,207.44
Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
