Job Description
Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by department need. This position may close early if the hiring need is filled, or we receive too many applications.
The Motorcycle Safety English/ Spanish Translator will assist Motorcycle Rider Coaches by translating English to Spanish the Rider Coach's narratives during the EP1 or EP2 segments, when providing riding exercise directions, or providing salient points during riding demonstrations of exercises. Translating for Rider Coaches student questions or answers during the above activities.
Translators may also stand close to Rider Coaches during Riding exercises but will work under the direction of a Certified Licensed Rider Coach and in accordance with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's (MSF) curriculum and professional standards, Nevada Rider's and College of Southern Nevada's (CSN) policies and procedures.
Translators may or may not be motorcycle riders themselves and training will be required by the Motorcycle Safety Specialist before they are assigned to a class.
Classes are conducted at several campuses and are given on both weekdays and weekends. Translators will be given the opportunity to select one class a month to attend. These selections need to be made at least 2 months before the actual class date to facilitate time for students to enroll. Opportunities may increase if class demand warrants it.
Classes are conducted outside year around. Courses may be taught in inclement weather including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Translators must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 6 hours, with some breaks.
Required Qualifications:
Must have or be able to obtain a First Aid & CPR certification.Ability to report to any of the Motorcycle Ranges run by CSN.Other training is required of CSN Employees during their employment.Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience or be able to speak in public.Starting Salary Range:
$17.50 per hour
