Systems Administrator II
Systems Administrator II is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systems. This role typically involves tasks such as configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software, implementing security measures, monitoring system performance, and providing technical support to end-users. Intermediate Systems Administrators often work under the guidance of senior administrators and play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of IT systems within the organization.
Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Systems Administrator II : Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Systems Administrator II Responsibilities Include:
Manage and Troubleshoot Infrastructure Solutions: Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot complex IT infrastructure solutions to ensure high availability and optimized performance across all services. System Configuration and Optimization: Tailor services to meet organizational requirements, including the configuration and tuning of Windows, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure Cloud, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers. Cloud Environment Management: Design, allocate, and optimize cloud-based resources, including swap space in virtualized environments, ensuring efficient usage and cost management. Scripting and Automation: Develop and implement robust scripting solutions in enterprise environments, focused on Azure Cloud administration, failover cluster management, and Windows server operations, to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency. Virtualization and Cloud Infrastructure: Create, configure, and maintain virtual machines in Microsoft Azure, ensuring environments are aligned with workload demands. Automate provisioning and deprovisioning processes to increase efficiency in virtualized environments. Documentation and Knowledge Management: Create comprehensive documentation of new and existing systems, configurations, and processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility with minimal oversight. Azure Storage Solutions: Plan, configure, and manage Azure storage options such as blobs, file shares, Azure Backup, recovery vaults, and other related cloud storage services in line with best practices. Technical Documentation Development: Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs), As-Is and To-Be system architectures, and Continuity of Operations (COOP)/Disaster Recovery (DR) plans. Technical Advisory: Provide subject matter expertise in planning, configuring, and deploying new technologies related to storage, compute, and backup solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational needs. Backup and Recovery Solutions: Configure, manage, and integrate backup solutions, including Azure backup, recovery vaults, and cloud-based disaster recovery services. Cloud Technology Proficiency: Utilize deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure design, deployment, and management to oversee and enhance cloud-based services and solutions. Cybersecurity and Compliance Support: Assist in implementing security controls aligned with Cyber Security Assessment and Management (CSAM) policies, ensuring infrastructure compliance with defined security standards. Vulnerability Management: Evaluate vulnerability scan results, design corrective measures, and implement mitigation strategies to address system vulnerabilities promptly. Access Control and User Management: Oversee access rights, user account management, and periodic review of access as outlined in the organization's Access Control Policy and Procedures. Patch and Update Management: Conduct regular patch management, vulnerability assessments, and firmware updates for both physical and virtual environments, ensuring all systems remain current and secure. Database and Storage Backup for Failover Solutions: Manage regular backups of failover Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure SQL VMs, and Azure SQL Databases, along with storage solutions for SQL-based cloud environments. Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks as necessary to support organizational goals and IT initiatives. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Systems Administrator II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology preferred. Must have experience with Microsoft Azure cloud and/or have Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certificate or higher or be able to obtain it within 30 days from offer. Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience with IT Operations/System administration, experience with IT Security will be a plus Proficiency in creating and deploying process automation (PowerShell) Technical Writing and Standard Operating Procedures- Ability to build technical documentation, manuals and IT processes & procedures. 3+ years Cloud Infrastructure Administration (Azure Preferred) Microsoft Operating Systems - Windows OS and Server OS Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, PowerPlatform) Networking and Configuration Management familiarity Demonstrated problem solving, judgment and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide high quality, independent analysis, conclusions and recommendations. Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work. Excellent organizational, analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to think critically, and effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is objective and consistent. Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner. Ability to identify the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information and/or data into separate. Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system. Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data or process information. Demonstrates ability to deliver results with multiple concurrent projects Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Network Administrator, Systems Engineer, or IT Support Specialist Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal Company Information:
