POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Education Specialist is responsible for the training and professional development of both clinical and non-clinical operations team at Navian. This role will cultivate and disseminate best practices across all the clinical programs within the organization to improve patient care and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship. Additionally, you will work closely with department leaders to identify training needs, develop curriculum, and evaluate program effectiveness to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and opportunities across clinical and non-clinical departments
  • Design, develop and deliver training programs using various methods including in-person, virtual, and e-learning platforms
  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions including scheduling, preparing materials, and managing participant enrollment
  • Employs principles of adult learning to foster development of colleagues.
  • Collaborates with other departments to perform needs assessment to support the design, development, and delivery of educational activities.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of educational activities.
  • Serves as a resource for questions/topics related to topics of current clinical practice.
  • Educates new or transferring clinical colleagues or professional volunteers through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation (competency) and integration into practice.
  • Develops, maintains and routinely updates written and e-learning resources for staff, volunteers, professional partners/lay community and patient and families as assigned.
  • Facilitates processes to assure final competency review is completed by manager or designated team member.
  • Provide mentorship support in regularly scheduled reflective meetings for all clinical staff but with a focus on clinical new hire team members.
  • Consistently meets all regulatory requirements for training including: CE Broker curriculum tables, Medicare CoPs training requirements, AHCA training regulations, OSHA training requirements and DOEA (Alzheimer's).
  • Maintains clinical expertise by attending all new classes or completing any required competencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of all compliance and Joint Commission regulations.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of EMR
  • Assists in development of implementation plans working with program leadership
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • A Current Hawaii license, in good standing, as a registered nurse. BSN required, Master's in Education preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of discipline specific experience in home health care/hospice preferred
  • At least two (2) years' experience as a clinical preceptor, mentor or instructor
  • Expertise in home health, case management, hospice/palliative care, pain and symptom management preferred
  • Computer expertise and EMR documentation expertise, including an understanding of critical thinking and care planning processes.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines, policies and procedures and pertinent State and Federal Rules and Regulations and Joint Commission standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and small group facilitation skills,
  • Strong communication, writing and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and use of a reliable, registered and insured automobile
