We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team on a 3-month contract. This role is located onsite in Austin, TX, at a state-of-the-art facility that specializes in caring for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and those requiring surgical interventions or transplants. The unit caters to neonatal through young adult patients, with occasional care for adult congenital heart disease (CHD) patients.

You will work 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week (Monday to Friday) from 06:45 to 19:15, providing care in a 24-bed pediatric cardiac ICU and a 12-bed overflow unit.

What youll be doing:

• Deliver hands-on patient care, observing and documenting healthcare needs and communicating updates to the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with the documentation and implementation of physician and nursing orders, under the direction of the registered nurse preceptor.
• Implement, monitor, and record patient care plans, and communicate changes in patient conditions.
• Engage in transition-to-practice programs to develop clinical judgment and provide safe, person-centered care.
• Work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU status, and 1:3 for stepdown/non-ICU patients in the overflow unit.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU experience.
• Active RN license.
• Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Preferred certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale certification.
• Ability to provide 2 professional references.
• Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder.
