Job Description
Battenkill Community Services (BCS) in Greenwich, NY is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide medication support to individuals that attend our respite program as well as provide support and guidance to families and staff. Our non-residential community-based programs serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Based in Greenwich, NY, BCS serves all of Washington and surrounding counties in NY. This is a part time position with flexible hours dependent on the needs of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Documents and records medical orders and prepare reports for basic care, assessments, and Life Plans.
- Examining and analyzing medical records, and charts to ensure quality care.
- Interface with medical practitioners for those individuals with complex medical needs to support effective communication, coordination and health advocacy between individuals, staff and families.
- Develop and provide education classes for staff, volunteers, and individuals enrolled in agency programs
- Participating in the development of policies and procedures.
- Acts as a liaison with the family, residences, and medical team of individuals served by the agency to coordinate care while attending our Respite Program.
- Administer first aid and medications as needed in Respite Program
- Oversight of individuals Medication Administration Record.
- Work with Compliance Officer to establish Workplace Safety Plan, Airborne Infectious Disease, and other NY DOH/DOL initiatives.
Qualifications
- NY State Licensed RN (Registered Nurse) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Prior experience supporting people with I/DD preferred
- Excellent oral/written communication and organization skills
- CPR, Workplace Safety, and First Aid Certification optional
