JOB TYPE: Full Time with full benefits eligibility. All compensation details will depend solely on location.
LOCATION: We are hiring for locations in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
COMPENSATION: If you are selected to be interviewed, please be prepared to discuss compensation. Our rates are extremely competitive! These positions are Non-exempt with opportunities for overtime available. Per diem may be available for those outside the specified distance from the work site. Mileage and other reimbursements may be included as well.
POSITION SUMMARY: This is a project-based position, and you should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all construction welding activities, means and methods to ensure projects are completed in accordance with all applicable requirements including standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedules. What you will be responsible for: (Disclaimer: The lists below are not all inclusive and may vary based on location) You will report directly to the Lead Welding Inspector or Chief Inspector.
- Ensures that all work performed by construction contractors is in accordance with all Gas Transmission Standards, project specifications, applicable permits, and safety requirements, and in compliance with all governing federal, state, and local jurisdictional agencies.
- Accepts or rejects the work as it is completed; however, Inspectors shall always be alert, to promptly identify errors and questionable practices to avoid future rejections that could compromise safety, quality, or schedule.
- Rejects work immediately when there are any deviations from the requirements herein, including safety practices, installation in accordance with approved‐for construction drawings, or construction specifications and standards.
- Documents deviations and immediately advises the appropriate leadership when a serious safety or construction deviation is in progress and Inspector is unable to resolve such deviation with the construction contractor’s job foreman.
- Reports any dispute or disagreement between the construction contractor and the Inspector immediately to the appropriate leadership for action as required.
- Record and document Contractor progress, work quality situations that would aid in ensuring correction of non-conformances and be useful in evaluation of Contractor’s claims. Report any non-conformances to the Lead Welding Inspector or Chief Inspector.
Duties you can expect day-to-day:
- Complete and maintain all Paxon and client specific Operator Qualifications.
- Exercise your authority to STOP WORK as required to prevent on-site work mishaps and maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure any design changes or material substitutions are discussed with the Chief Inspector and that proper approval from the Company PM is obtained prior to proceeding with the work.
- Perform a walk through with the P&ID’s to ensure all components have been installed.
- Prepares the appropriate reports for the assigned activity and submits reports to the Chief Inspector or Lead Welding Inspector at the designated time.
Equipment and Tools Required:
- Levels (straight, angle)
- Fluke meter (ac/dc voltage and 0-300 Amps)
- Inspection mirror • Magnifying lens
- Weld fillet gauge • Weld cap gauge.
- Hi-Lo welding gauge • Welding hood w/lenses.
- 6” Vernier calipers for accurate measurement of root face, pipe wall thickness at the ends, nick break specimens etc.
- Bridge Cam Gauge
- Pit measurement gauge or dial indicator depth gauge.
- Digital Pyrometer (0-450F)
- Stopwatch
- API 1104 (current approved edition)
- ASME B31.3 (current approved edition)
QUALIFICATIONS:
You must have the following: (Minimum)
- Proven ability to interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Proven ability to interpret Company standards by completing Company’s Inspector Testing Program.
- Proven administration skills (for example, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Proven quality control experience.
- Proven experience with NDE processes and quality standards.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with API 1104 and ASME B31.8
If you have the following it will be a big plus: (Preferred)
- Five (5) years of welding inspection or welding experience with a minimum of three (3) years pipe welding inspection experience.
- API 1169 Certification
- AWS CWI Certification
- CPWI Certification
