EMIT Technologies, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to ensure the quality, safety, and integrity of welded products and structures. The CWI will be responsible for performing inspections on welding processes, materials, and final welds to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, the ability to read blueprints and specifications, and the experience to identify defects and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections of welding operations, including the examination of welded joints, materials, and structural integrity, to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API). Verify that welding procedures and practices conform to relevant codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME IX, API 1104). Maintain accurate records of inspections, including reports of findings, test results, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action recommendations. Monitor and assess the quality of welding processes and materials to ensure the final product meets the required specifications and safety standards. Perform or coordinate NDT methods (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant) to identify potential flaws in welded joints. Provide guidance and mentorship to welding personnel, helping to identify areas for improvement and offering support for proper welding techniques and safety procedures. Use inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, visual aids) to perform detailed and accurate assessments of welds and materials. Ensure that welding activities are performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and that safety practices are followed on-site. Work closely with welding engineers, project managers, and quality control teams to ensure that welding processes align with project requirements and specifications. Qualifications:
Current certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the American Welding Society (AWS) or another recognized certifying body. Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding inspection or quality control in [relevant industry/field, e.g., construction, manufacturing, oil and gas]. Strong understanding of welding processes, inspection methods, and related codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, etc.). Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and other technical documents. Familiarity with various non-destructive testing techniques (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, visual inspection). Strong ability to identify welding defects and assess weld quality and integrity. Ability to recommend corrective actions and assist in troubleshooting welding issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce inspection reports and communicate effectively with team members and management. Ability to work in challenging environments, including exposure to welding equipment, heat, and confined spaces.
