Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for coordinating all warehouse activities involving receiving, storage, and shipping of products in a manner that consistently achieves company service and cost objectives. Assesses daily priorities and sets the performance standards of Porters, Laborers, Material Movers, and Clericals reporting into his/her team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Labor Management:
- Direct the operations of warehouse team to achieve prescribed objectives. Develop and maintain a productive work team by creating programs for hiring, training and professional development. Match the skill and background of personnel to the work required. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel and discipline associates. Must be able to explain the purpose/reasoning for company policies, procedures, or collective bargaining agreement; and apply these as intended.
- Operations:
- Supervises the unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and picking/staging of outbound shipments to ensure orders are free of damage and meet all compliance and quality standards. Verifies required inbound/outbound paperwork, ensuring that all product is properly counted. Completes all necessary records/reports meeting requirements for timeliness and accuracy. Audits for accuracy and takes corrective action. Makes recommendations for continuous improvement of processes and to standardize procedures. Reviews daily and weekly efficiency metrics and identifies employees with work process problems and coaches those who need to improve performance. Responsible for ensuring that a smooth and accurate transition is made from one day /one shift to the next.
- Equipment/Safety:
- Ensure that procedures are in place for the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment. Direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property. Provide safety instruction to personnel as needed. Report all work-related injuries immediately. Provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary. Operates in compliance with OSHA, C-TPAT, Bio-Terrorism, AIB, FDA Food Safety and other appropriate standards. Holds employees accountable when they are found in violation of basic safety standards.
- Inventory Management:
- Ensure current and accurate inventory control for all products. Assists in physical inventories and cycle counts. Ensures the optimal utilization of space and rotate products as appropriate.
- Information Technology:
- Utilization of necessary warehouse information systems to meet company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of the warehouse. Ensure that necessary computer software and hardware are provided. Remain knowledgeable regarding changes in hardware and software technology.
SECURITY
- Complies with all company security procedures.
SAFETY
- Complies with all government and company safety rules.
EQUIPMENT USED
- Is able to operate, train, and coach others on all equipment used in their area of responsibility.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehouse supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Must be able to place outbound calls and answer phones, talk/speak and listen coherently
- Must have the ability to lift and/or move office and warehouse supplies, shipments and equipment and files ranging anywhere from 5 – 75 lbs.,
- Fine hand manipulation – typing, writing, may assist with packaging of items
- Must be physically able to open filing cabinets and bend, stand, balance, stoop or twist as necessary.
- Vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
- Ability to walk around the warehouse to gather information (maybe frequent walking). May work 5 hours or more on their feet and on concrete floors
- Must be able to walk, bend, twist, and stand from a kneeling or crouching position without the use of an ambulatory device.
- Must be able to mount and step down from variety of lift trucks /motorized vehicles.
