What is a Software Developer I at SMT?

As a Software Developer I, you will develop software products for multiple platforms. Developers focus on writing robust, modular, cleanly interfaced code used both for SMT’s broadcast and backend data products.

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

• Designing and programing base product software focusing on creating shared functionality and libraries
• Assisting in the design and development tools to support accurate software releases
• Integrating real-time data sources into the existing code base and ensure real-time data is presented accurately and instantly
• Testing, debugging, and verifying your own code
• Participating in the full software development lifecycle
• Writing unit tests for all developed components and interfaces
• Ensuring software components are robustly designed, programmed, tested, debugged, and verified for deployment into the field
• Providing thorough and accurate written and verbal updates to managers

What Do You Bring to SMT?

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or comparable industry experience
• Experience writing clean and well-documented Java, C#, or C++ code
• The ability to work well under pressure in a face-paced and ever-changing environment
• Strong analytic problem-solving abilities
• Solid coding, debugging, and testing skills
• A self-motivated mentality with strong multi-tasking, organization, and time management skills
• Curiosity to proactively learn new base products and development techniques
• A positive “can-do” attitude when troubleshooting or problem solving; promote this attitude to peers and teammates
• Fundamental understanding of major sports
• Ability to:
  • Anticipate needs and proactively suggest improvements
  • Independently research and respond to technical questions and issues to solve technical problems quickly and efficiently
  • Combine technical knowledge with an understanding of expectations to offer creative solutions to complex problems in a practical, timely, and efficient manner
