Who is a Software Engineer I at SMT?

Have you ever wondered how sports broadcast and graphics technology, like digital scoreboards or on the field visuals, work? Do you have experience in C++ coding? If you answered yes to these questions, we’ve got a great opportunity for you with SMT as a Software Engineer I!

As a Software Engineer I, you will develop 3D rendering applications within our Research & Development department. Your work will require teaming up with other SMT departments to define and implement applications that solve our broadcast client needs. You will also collaborate with the Director of Core Technologies and other R&D engineers to implement new rendering applications and augment existing ones for use in live broadcast events.

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

• Interacting with Project Managers and Client Services Representatives to understand the client needs
• Working independently on software development
• Designing, developing, and writing C++ code
• Contributing to all aspects of the software development lifecycle
• Designing base product features for use across multiple applications
• Working with QA to test software and recreate reported issues
• Developing an understanding and expertise with many different SMT software platforms and products

What Do You Bring to SMT?

• BS in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred
• Proficiency in C++, real-time programming, and multi-threading
• Strong analytic problem-solving skills
• Experience coding and analyzing multi-threaded C++ applications in a Windows environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• A self-motivated mentality with strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills to meet project deadlines
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts, industry trends, and technologies
• Fundamental understanding of and excitement about major sports and their concepts

We would love for you to bring these skills as well:

• Experience building Windows applications with Visual Studio
• Experience with Qt or similar application development frameworks
• Experience with OpenGL or other modern computer graphics frameworks
• Experience with version control systems
• Experience creating user-facing software
• Familiarity with sports broadcasting, or broadcasting in general
