Job Description
Rebound is looking for a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant to join the team at our Rose Quarter location in Portland, OR. The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for performing specific physical therapy procedures and related tasks under the plan of care of a physical therapist. Physical Therapy Assistants have more training and responsibility than aides.
Responsibilities:

- Assist patients in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries from accidents or from diseases such as arthritis, cerebral palsy, or heart disease.
- Fulfill patient treatment and procedures such as exercises, massages, electrical stimulation, paraffin baths, hot and cold packs, traction, manual therapy and ultrasound.
- Document patient treatment.
- Keep treatment area clean and organized in preparation for each patient’s therapy.
- Help patients move to/from treatment area by pushing them in wheelchairs or providing support during ambulation.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education: Successful completion of Physical Therapy Assistant program of accredited school.
Certificate/License: All states require licensure or certification for a Physical Therapy Assistant. Current CPR or BLS certificate.
Experience: Physical therapist assistant program of accredited school.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of how to carry out plan of care developed by physical therapist. Knowledge of operating therapeutic equipment and devices including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, electrical stimulators, traction, andheat/cold modalities. Knowledge of documentation of care and other patient information for medical record including history, treatment, and consultations. Skill in assisting with exam/exercise room cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and supply ordering/inventorying/stocking. Skill in complying with policies/procedures related to infection control, safety, and quality improvement. Skill in using assistive devices effectively to aid patients. Ability to communicate clearly with staff, patient, and families. Ability to observe patients and report outcomes and concerns to PT. Ability to follow instructions carefully when assisting patients.
Typical Physical Demands: High level of physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and stooping. Helps lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to transfer/transport patient safely. Variety of exam/treatment/exercise equipment including assistive devices such as wheelchairs and treatment equipment such as traction devices. Use of computer for record keeping and documentation.
Typical Working Conditions: Primarily treatment and exercise rooms. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions related to medical setting.
