LOCATION:
The incumbent in this position will report to and work out of the school campus location closest to their home address - West Chester (Eastern PA) or Murrysville (Western PA)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The social worker will support the school mission and vision, and have the primary responsibility to plan and deliver social skills and coping skill instruction. The social worker will collaborate with parents, school staff, and teachers to help implement treatment plans focused on challenges being experienced in a student's life. The goal for our school social worker is to create an environment and behavior management plan that best allows our students to be successful. The social worker will be a vital part of the IEP team.

It is essential that the incumbent in this position is able to be flexible to meet the asynchronous, online teaching environment and fulfill the occasional travel requirements of the position, which can include overnight accommodations. Due to the nature of the role and need to travel or be in office, this position is a hybrid role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Plans and executes developmentally appropriate social and coping skills lessons assigned through the online management learning system; differentiates instruction for all students and implements IEP accommodations and modifications.
  2. Continuously communicates with staff and parents/guardians with respect to behavioral concerns and academic success. Develops and facilitates workshops that address new challenges students may be facing and coping with trauma.
  3. As appropriate, connects with student's outside providers, pediatricians, and therapists to support students' needs in the classroom.
  4. Schedules check-ins with the student after discharge from inpatient programs and during/ post outpatient programs
  5. Provides additional resources to students and families who are experiencing homelessness, pregnancy, abuse, death, sickness etc.
  6. Coordinates and collaborates with students/families, school staff and community agencies to enhance students' learning and foster positive partnerships by providing a wide array of support services.
  7. Identifies supports for students/families, initiates referrals to community resources and social service programs to help promote success in school.
  8. Conducts formal and informal assessments of a student's background including developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior and cultural factors that may influence learning.
  9. Uses student, family, school and community assessments to develop appropriate interventions to improve student learning and works to eliminate barriers that interfere with a student's education.
  10. Conducts home visits to strengthen the relationship between the student, parents/guardians and the school. Helps students and their families work toward solutions for problems affecting student's readiness to learn.
  11. Schedules and maintains regular virtual office hours, to ensure availability to students and families.
  12. Participates in proctoring state-mandated testing, school field trips, community outreach and marketing events.
  13. Collaborates effectively with colleagues to support student learning.
  14. Maintains accurate records and information in SIS, following established procedures.
  15. Ensures all Special Education paperwork timelines are met.
  16. Participates in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  17. Monitors and completes progress reports on IEP goals.
  18. Serve as a social emotional expert and stay abreast of the latest social-emotional research practices and resources available to students and families.
  19. Perform any other duties/projects as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

  7. Ability to transport between assigned campus and student locations throughout the Commonwealth. Must have, and maintain, a valid driving license.

Education and Experience
  1. Masters Degree from Accredited University or College, in Social Work or Counseling
  2. School Social Worker, Educational Specialist Certificate PK-12
  3. Prior experience as a School Social Worker in a PA K-12 public school setting preferred
  4. Act 34, 151, and 114 Clearances; Act 24/82, Act 168 disclosure forms.
Schedule:
10 Month/ 193 Day
Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
Telework - Remote/Work From Home: must be available to commute as needed per current school guideline and employee handbook.

Salary:
$63,320 - $91,165 per year (based on education and experience)
