Kennel worker opening at Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, located in Durham, NC. We are a progressive full spectrum AHAA accredited small animal hospital seeking a motivated, dedicated, hard-working, kennel attendant to join our team. *We are in the process of building a whole new boarding facility by the end of 2023.
SUMMARY
Kennel staff members are responsible for the proper feeding and care of all hospitalized or boarded animals and the cleanliness of cages, runs and other areas of the hospital.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides compassionate care to patients
Receives animals to be admitted, is responsible for their proper identification and for recording their respective locations
Releases animals to their owners as directed by the doctor; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed
Follows a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, runs, wards and related areas; changes litter boxes
Feeds each animal as prescribed by the attending doctor and records appetite
Bathes and groom’s animals as directed by the doctor
Collects urine and fecal specimens as directed by the doctor
Recognizes and records any unusual condition or abnormal behavior
Assists doctors, nurses, technicians with the administration of medications or with restraint
Maintains cleanliness in kitchen and other relevant areas of the hospitals as directed by the Practice Manager
Routine maintenance of the practice, handy work
Performs other duties as deemed necessary
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or achieving a high school diploma within two years of hire (minimum age 16)
