Position Overview:

The Manager of Training and Documentation leads all aspects of the training and documentation departments within Siemens Rolling Stock. This role involves managing employees, preparing and implementing training plans, coordinating with project teams, and delivering high-quality documentation and training materials starting at the project bid phase through the project execution phase. Effective customer training and the provision of industry-leading manuals are crucial to the success of railroads in North America. These elements ensure that customers can operate and maintain their rolling stock efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of the rail network.

This position can be remote or from a Mobility office that is US based.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead the employees within the Training and Documentation department.
  • Prepare pricing based on customer specifications to deliver vital training hours and manuals for upcoming projects.
  • Awarding contracts to and being responsible for the contracts of 3rd party manual suppliers to ensure contracted scope is delivered to project schedules.
  • Schedule training sessions in coordination with the project team and customer project team.
  • Prepare training materials and coordinate with printing companies for student handouts.
  • Travel to meet with customers and their internal training personnel.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the vehicles and their systems to discuss training needs professionally with project managers and customers.
  • Address comments and concerns from customer manuals teams throughout the manual process.
  • Ensure manuals are delivered and updated by the customer at various project stages.


To Thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study. Instead of a bachelor's degree, a combination of education and Siemens or Rail Industry relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Rail Industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using rolling stock manuals to implement maintenance and repair work.
  • Strong understanding of rolling stock systems and components.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work with teams with varied strengths.

This position is based in Sacramento, CA. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA, is $134,400 - $165,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
