Position Overview:

Siemens is looking for a dynamic leader to manage a team of Buyers, Planners, and Data Management professionals in operational purchasing. This role supports the manufacturing of light rail vehicles, locomotives, passenger coaches, and bogies, ensuring timely material delivery to meet project requirements.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a complex, multi-project, engineer-to-order environment and effectively support multiple functional areas.

What your day may look like:
  • Maximize on-time material availability across all projects and departments, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries.
  • Drive the planner team to confirm supplier purchase orders on time, maintaining a seamless supply chain.
  • Collaborate closely with planners to adjust deliveries from suppliers, ensuring schedules are met and projects stay on track.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements, working with Siemens' automation team to develop robust and efficient solutions.
  • Analyze MRP and project schedule data to proactively identify potential material shortages and initiate corrective actions.
  • Improve internal processes through data analysis, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain standard reports to clearly represent material status and other relevant information, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Interface with key teams such as Strategic Purchasing, Enterprise Scheduling, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Project Management to provide analysis and input on project material requirements and status.
  • Establish clear communication standards with suppliers for confirmations, status updates, and problem resolution.
  • Engage with critical suppliers to resolve schedule and delivery issues, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of invoicing and receiving problems by collaborating with Receiving, Accounting, and Inspection departments.


Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead a dynamic team of 10 or more Buyer/Planners and Data Management professionals, driving success and efficiency.
  • Set and achieve clear department goals and KPIs, ensuring the team meets and exceeds expectations.
  • Prioritize tasks for planners and ensure employee performance aligns with department objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective training plans and materials for new hires, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate team performance and assist in career development planning, fostering growth and development.
  • Support management with insightful ad-hoc reports and take on special projects, making a significant impact on the business.


What you need to be successful:
  • 5+ years of management experience in material operations with direct reports the entire time, excluding internships.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience; Master's preferred.
  • This position is not suitable for recent graduates.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain concepts and applications.
  • Key user-level MRP experience in SAP.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, SQL, Tableau, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a commitment to meeting schedules despite obstacles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to make sound decisions in ambiguous situations with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

The salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA is $ 119,900-$130,000 per year and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.

This position will be eligible for a $5,000 sign-on Bonus!
