Business Development Manager- Metal Roofing

Position Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving business growth and supporting development activities for our Metal Roofing product line in an assigned region.

The BDM is Gibraltar’s face for Metal Roofing with contractors, builders, and customers as well as with our field sales team. This role requires an energetic person with a positive can-do attitude who can earn the trust and respect of our customers and the contractors. The BDM is responsible for profitable growth of our metal roofing product line. The BDM’s effectiveness is chiefly measured and rewarded for exceeding regional goals for sales and profit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify new metal roofing business opportunities and develop strategies to grow our business with distributors, lumberyards, contractors, and home builders.
  • Train and develop the field sales team to sell our metal roofing products.
  • Work with field sales team to convert business from competitors.
  • Visit job sites regularly looking for new product / business opportunities.
  • Frequent contact with contractors, lumberyards, builders, and distributors resulting in strong personal relationships with each group at regional, district and branch levels.
  • Responsible for developing & implementing pull through programs with contractors and builders for metal roofing products.
  • Must be an expert with regards to metal roofing products, installation methods, and best practices.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to provide insights and recommendations for business improvement.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of leads and prospects through proactive prospecting and networking.
  • Responsible for providing forecast for new metal roofing business.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and presentations to management on sales performance, market trends, and competitive analysis.
  • Be able to communicate clearly with upper management in regard to market trends within the region.
  • Must be able to work closely with supply chain, operations, finance and other departments.
  • Travel up to 75% within assigned region.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Five years of sales experience demonstrating increasing year over year sales improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Engineering, or related field will be strongly considered, but is not required.
  • Strong team player, able to contribute to a high performing team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
